‘Learning Organisations’ Training Programme
What is a ‘Learning Organisation?
The ability to learn, grow and adapt is possibly the most important factor in organisational success in today’s VUCA world. A learning organisation is one that models and enables continuous learning, growth, and adaptation at the individual and organisational levels.
Modelling – Leaders in learning organisations listen deeply, are curious and engage in active inquiry. They check their assumptions and own their mistakes publicly.
Enabling – Leaders in learning organisations empower and develop others - they don’t take over when the heat is on. They ask skilful questions and enable individuals and teams to thrive in the face of challenge and uncertainty.
Learning Organisation Training Programme benefits
By training leaders and managers in coaching skills, you can build a culture where all staff are continuously reflecting (alone and in groups), challenging each other to think broadly and deeply and supporting each other.
As these skills and attitudes emerge, you will notice dramatic changes across your organisation:
People problem-solving collaboratively and efficiently without over-engineering
Real, authentic, difficult conversations taking place that fundamentally improve the quality of the work - as a result of people feeling psychologically safe and willing to be vulnerable
People taking more ownership, innovating, and taking calculated risks in the best interest of the organisation
This, in turn, maximises the efficacy, productivity and well-being of teams and individuals.
How does it work?
My Learning Organisation programme is built on best practice in effective professional development. It is designed based on evidence from the field of business, leadership, coaching and psychology to create a well-rounded human experience with a difference.
It includes:
Five training days (virtual or F2F) spread over eight months (one day every 4-6 weeks)
Five two-hour practice sessions with colleagues on the course
Five group supervision sessions to foster reflection and feedback
Each cohort can include up to 20 individuals from a single organisation, and multiple cohorts can run in parallel if desired.
The programme can be tailored to individual clients based on your unique needs.
By going through the programme together with their colleagues, participants deepen their relationships with each other. They develop a common language that helps them be vulnerable and hold each other to account for a different way of ‘being’.
If this sounds like something that could benefit your organisation, send me a message and let’s chat!
I recently delivered the Learning Organisations training programme virtually to 37 leaders in a single organisation across three countries and two continents. They report the following impacts (in their own words) in an anonymous survey:
“I’m noticing myself and team members having a more positive disposition towards others”
“I’ve learnt that the problem is rarely the problem. I’m more likely to question the root of a problem - is it really the problem that needs tackling? What are we not talking about?”
“We’re being more curious, solving problems collaboratively rather than being so directive”
“We’ve changed the way we do 1:1s and performance management now. We’ve embedded the principles of coaching.”
“I find it easier to talk to supervisors about issues/challenges than before.”
“I’m more open to challenge and hearing different perspectives. I get less defensive now.”
“I’m far more self-aware. I’m more likely to notice when I’m falling into drama dynamics and try to pull myself out.”
